Evidence exists that mindfulness programs can improve the wellbeing of young people with cancer, helping to decrease stress and anxiety. However, there are challenges with running in-person programs that make online or digital programs an appealing alternative. This study wanted to find out whether a mindfulness-based program delivered digitally (accessible as a web link or mobile app) is engaging and helpful for young people with cancer.
The mindfulness program was designed with the help of young people with cancer and their carers. A small group of young people who used the program found it easy to use and meaningful. Young people liked that they could go through the program at their own pace and thought it was beneficial for them, saying that they would recommend it to others.
The program has received feedback from a small number of participants, but the findings were very promising, that a digital mindfulness program would be a good way to improve the wellbeing of young people with cancer.
