For 30 years, National Bandanna Day has been a beacon of support for young people impacted by cancer. Schools, like Chapel Hill State School, have been instrumental in making Canteen's flagship fundraising and awareness campaign a success. Celebrating their 16th year of participation, Chapel Hill State School embodies the spirit of Bandanna Day with a commitment to kindness and empathy.
Last year, the school ordered 11 boxes of bandannas, raising over $3,300. Carolyn Harris, a key supporter, shared why this cause resonates so deeply within their school community.
“We were looking for a cause to support that would encourage students to be kind and empathetic. Our Year 6 students love manning the stall and raising awareness, as well as funds, for young people touched by or experiencing cancer.”
“Bandanna Week”, as they celebrate it, turns the school into a vibrant sea of colour - with students, teachers, and even their therapy dog, Myla, joining in the fun. For Chapel Hill State School, being a part of Bandanna Day not only raises funds for young people impacted by cancer - it fosters a sense of unity and compassion among students.
