Partnering for Impact: The Lottery Office and Canteen Supporting NT Youth

Submitted by Ravi_Canteen on

For young people in the Northern Territory who are impacted by cancer, access to the right support can make all the difference. Thanks to a generous $80,000 commitment from The Lottery Office, more young people will now have a dedicated counsellor to guide them through one of the toughest times in their lives.

Over the next two years, The Lottery Office will provide $40,000 annually, allowing Canteen to expand its reach in regional and remote NT communities. The new counsellor will work closely with local healthcare providers to ensure young people receive timely, culturally informed support tailored to their individual needs.

“This is going to be a game-changer, giving young people in these areas direct access to a trusted shoulder to lean on – someone who understands the challenges cancer can bring,” said Canteen Executive Director of Services & Impact, Siona Hardy.

The partnership also enables Canteen to introduce a Senior Programs Officer, further strengthening support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people by fostering cultural connections and providing holistic care.
